Malaysia gets Global

Mid-august and you wish you were in Ibiza. Like every summer, the cream of the crop of the electronic music, all spektrum included are flying from the island to a huge festival in the UK back again to the island, leaving us, here, wondering why, why, oh why isn't there an electronic festival in a reasonable mile-radius.

The good news is : Global Gathering ( GG ) is coming to the rescue.
The bad news is : it won't be in Thailand.

Malaysian organisers Pervert Designs are teaming up with the annual UK festival GG to organise what seems to be a serious competitor to Singaporean festival, Zoukout. If the 2007 Zoukout line-up is still being kept secret, names have been announced for GG South-East Asia edition.

Spread on 6 stages, the festival will put the local Malaysian scene at the forefront while inviting big-guns to join in the festivities. To this day, 46 acts are on the bill, more international guests due to be announced in the days to come. Highlights of the festival will be Sander Van Doorn's bosh-trance at the Godskitchen arena, Layo and Bushwacka!'s hypnotic tech-house. Live performances from French goth-electro Blackstrobe and old-school hip hop dons Jungle Brothers, on the same stage but hopefully not crashing into another, sound promising. Latest addition to this stage named Freedom Electric is the fluo-duo Simian Mobile Disco.

Bangkok represent with Futon showcasing their second album live between Blackstrobe and Simian, Bee flying from a stage to another to deliver with DJ Oum his Rehab selection in the evening.

We'll keep updating this post as the list goes on, and if any name deserves to be mentioned.
