Dutch develop powdered alcohol for minors

From the people who brought you hash bars, legalised prostitution and clogs, comes something the kids can enjoy: powdered booze. Dutch students recently developed a product called Booz2Go, a powdered alcohol which can be legally sold to minors. Booz2Go will be sold in 20 gram packets, which when added with water creates a bubbly, lime-flavoured drink with 3 percent alcohol content. The students have managed to get around the drinking age laws by selling the product in powder form, opening the product to a younger market.
“We are aiming for the youth market. They are really more into it because you can compare it with Bacardi-mixed drinks,” 20-year-old Harm van Elderen told Reuters. The idea was brought up by Elderen and four classmates as part of their final year project.
This product has gathered the attention from a number of companies, as they can avoid the taxes that would usually come with alcohol by selling them in powdered form. Booz2go will cost 1-1.5 euros ($1.60-$2.40).
